I have visited many hotels and home stays in India and in none have I felt so much at home (until I arrived at this lovely abode). The attention is unbeatable, the family that manages this place makes you feel at home; They worry at all times just to make sure that your stay is comfortable. Thank you Mr. Sanjeev Sharma & family for such an incredible experience and taking care of us when we needed it the most! About the structure - There are about 3 floors and each floor has about 2 sets of stay units. A single stay unit would prove to be very comfortable for a group of 4 to 6 members (2-3 bedrooms, hall area, kitchen and 1-2 bathrooms in each unit), it's an apartment style of setting, you won't have the entire villa to yourself but you won't feel the difference as every single floor has it's own balcony and lawn area. Only stairs, no elevators, do call them before booking if you have senior citizens traveling with you but we also saw an old couple in their late 60's staying there (enjoying their morning & evening teas in the lawn area) so don't think that should be a major concern. And yes, the view is just amazing, you will spend a lot of time in the lawn area or balcony. About the interiors - The large and comfortable rooms, clean bathrooms, superiorly decorated common room and the fact that we had a separate kitchen all to ourselves with a dining table right next to that area made our stay even more special. To my surprise, everyone in our group wanted to cook a meal because it was that convenient. The first thing anyone will notice the moment they enter is how tastefully the rooms have been decorated, the interiors are just wow! Every bedroom has a TV in it so you won't miss out on any of the World Cup matches or your daily dose of TV series :) Geysers in the bathroom, room heaters are also available (at an extra charge), refrigerator and all needed cutlery in the kitchen area and an ironing machine (its a must for me), you will find it all there. You can also use their automatic washing machine/dryer to take care of your laundry needs (extra cost but very nominal). The bathrooms might feel a bit outdated but anything that concerns you, just let Mr Sanjeev know and as we experienced, it just takes this guy a few minutes to help resolve anything from a basic amenity issue to a life endangering situation. About the location - Their location on Google Maps is as accurate as it can get, very easy to reach this place. Quite close to the Dharamshala cricket stadium and the airport. Mcleod is at a fair distance and it's hard to find a cab in the entire region so people usually opt for renting scooties or motorcycles, it comes at a reasonable rate too. Zomato and Swiggy delivery (including Dominos) is also available so you can enjoy all the local cuisines without even having to step outside. About the food - The restaurant food and tap/non-packaged water in any hilly areas for that matter is not something that suits everyone and in our case, it just didn't go well from Day 1. So we had to completely rely on Mrs. Sharma's culinary skills to get our daily nutrition and man, she never disappointed. The menu is quite basic but it's the very definition of a home stay and home cooked meal. From oats to khichdi, mix parathas to puri baaji, bread omelettes to sandwiches, we enjoyed them all. Read their stay instructions / guidelines, it's not a hotel and Mrs. Sharma personally takes care of preparing the meals for her guests so you have to inform them well in advance if you need the meal by a specific time slot - so for example if you want to have your dinner exactly by 8 pm then try to inform them well before 6 pm. Never once did she miss out on our specific needs (read requirements of ill patients), cooked exactly how we wanted it to be and made sure that we were all back on our feet before we left their stay. About the hosts - It's just so rare to meet people like this family. We were talking about them & their hospitality on our entire way back from the trip and even our distant friends and family members now know about them - trust me, its that special they make you feel. Mr Sanjeev Sharma, sir, you are a class apart! He knows the entire Dharamshala/Mcleodganj area like the back of his hand - From travel arrangements to foreign exchange, from booking your activities to buying any local souvenirs, he will help you with anything and everything. And by 'help', I don't mean that he will simply guide you to the location - he will take you through all of that, he will make it his personal mission that you experience nothing but the best. I have seen people do that for money but here, its just plain old "athithi devo bhava" mentality. His communication in terms of planning, pricing and execution is very clear and one of the very few hosts in the area who can speak English fluently as well. Special mention to our cute li'l furry friend, Annie, the most active Pug I have ever seen! Bottomline : The final bill amount was even lower than what we had expected, the family took such good care of us when we were sick and literally, at our worst, helped us sort out our issues with the driver(s), plan the daily travel itineraries, literally walked up and down a fleet of stairs like 50 times a day to cater to our requirements and all of that with a honest smile on their faces. What more can a guest expect?…
