This hotel is very well situated. 2 minutes walk to KaLui and Kinabuch restaurant. KaLui is a must visit. Its also a 5 minute walk to Noki Nocs for the best Halo halo. If by pearl market you are referring to their souvenir shop, yes it is very near, about 5 minutes away by trike. The hotel offers city tours and other tour as well. But what we did was to hire a van and did our own thing. That way we had the van by ourselves and had total control of our time

Hi current & past guests, I would like insight on my current situation. My husband is active-duty US military & he's received strict orders that he's restricted to travel to Palawan due to the heightened terrorism threats in the area, so we are forced to cancel our entire family trip. We have valid, supporting documents to further claim our military obligations. Well, I feel completely ignored & I believe the management at Best Western Ivywall is extremely insensitive to the nature of our circumstances. When I canx, I will be penalized & be forced to pay 100% of the booking fee, so as a no-show, I'll be losing double the amount of &! I've been trying to resolve this since earlier this month; my reservation is not until the end of June. I am well aware of the no-refund policy as I've planned this family trip since January, but in light of the potential terrorism threats & our duty to the US military, it's out of our hands. Especially, with the horror at Manchester, this hotel has been extremely insensitive, inconsiderate, disrespectful & truly only showing their greed & lack of care for both current & potential customers. With them knowing weeks in advance that my family cannot make the reservation, they can still rent out the room! Which is more profit along with me losing it all, plus double. I'm still hoping to resolve this, but just wanted anyone's advice. I even asked for hotel credit. Any thoughts??
Not sure this response will help. I travelled to Palawan in March this year. This was our second trip to Philippines in 3 years having visited Borocay previously. It is an unusual place but in a good way. The people are very nice and the scenery amazing. The culture is an experience in itself and I was told very low in local crime. However I didn't want to go because of consult advice both on UK and US websites however my partner felt differently so we went. My understanding is that risks were reassessed last Oct/Nov so well in advance of your booking. Given your husbands military background I am a little surprised you booked at all. I guess a non-refund policy is as stated. It is outside the control of the hotel if the US government don't advise travel. Whilst I agree you would think they could still re book room but maybe given heightened threats that's not so easy for them now. I feel very sorry for the local community it must be awful and very frightening. I have to say I never once felt unsafe or saw any violence but then my son studies in Manchester and always felt safe there but look what has happened. I wonder if you could ask for a transfer to another Best Western hotel perhaps try Best Western head office customer services.......assuming there is one.
