Dirty Place.. very disappointed! Was very hard to find this place as the map on the website i booked it at showed Pension Rafaella what I had thought we had booked, we were then taken to the Studio Rafaella, closer to beach but it was not clean.. dust everywhere, cold water and beds sheets were OLD and crusty... rooms were not serviced. Shocking PLACE!
When we arrived the owner (Dimitris Zahiotis) asked us to pay the balance of our bill by cash (not credit card). That didn't seem a big deal. Once that was established, he disappeared. During the stay (4 days), the room was cleaned once. There was no name on the building - they said they had just painted it and had not put the sign back up yet. On the morning of our last day, we awoke to the horrific reality that we had been robbed during the night while we were sleeping in the room. A large knife was found near the balcony and more than $540 had been taken. The neighbors and owner did not believe us, blatantly ignored us, thought we were crazy and dismissed our complaint. The police did not make an effort to understand let alone act (and I speak Greek). I had a huge problem trying to get a police report. They told us that in 18 month's time, we may hear from them. There was no forced entry, so our robber had a key to the room. In the end, the owner's wife accepted my credit card since we had no cash to pay the bill. Earlier in the stay we found a kitten whose eyes hadn't opened yet. He was all alone, lost and hungry. We rescued him just to find that there is no shelter of any kind on the island. Suggestions given to us were, throw it into the sea, throw it into the garbage, just strangle it, and take it back to America with you (this from the owner of Rafaella Studios). The lady cop told us that we were lucky we were talking to her because if it were up to her male counterparts, they would have summarily strangled it and put an end to our problem. After two days of searching we discovered Claire (an American), who rescues animals in her private capacity. I did not know that animals were so cruelly treated in Greece and, as an animal lover, this was very distressing. I WOULD NOT GO BACK TO PAROS, LET ALONE RAFAELLA STUDIOS, IF THEY OFFERED TO PAY ME BACK FOUR TIMES WHAT WAS STOLEN FROM ME. I am taking this matter further with the Greek Ministry of Tourism.
