Excellent Visitor Center despite not being able to go into it because it was closed on Wednesday when we were there. The architecture is amazing and fits in with the surroundings. The short walk to the snowmobile bridge is impressive. What a wonderful view both ways. The hike to Reccollet Falls was worth the hour it took to get there. We are seniors and so the walk was probably slower than for most as there are rocks to get over and lots of roots to be careful of but it was well marked. My only complaint was finding the Visitor Center. Because it's on the old highway 69 that we used to travel, you have to know exactly where to get off as there is no signage. There is a sign for the French River Trading Post but if you've never been up there you wouldn't know that the visitor center is pretty much beside it.

Packed with information about the French River waterway, and (when open again) an informative history museum about the area. Also a lovely little gift shop.

Approximately 3 hours from Toronto, at the political border between Northern and Southern Ontario, this is a great place to stretch your legs and do some hikes. Unfortunately, the bridge is closed. There was a huge No Trespassing sign and Trail Closed sign as well.

The gift shop is large though. A lot of swag to be sold. So large they also have a clearance section too.

You have to pay to get to the exhibit. Not sure why. But regardless, it's a beautiful visitor centre.

Interesting artifacts and information about the history of the local area. Museum is free if you have a valid park permit. Nice way to spend an hour.

As a cottage owner on the French River waterway I try very hard to educate young and old on the true written history of this magnificent river.
When I had my niece and nephew up at the cottage to experience first hand just what a cottage/camp is and all it’s beautiful surroundings, I wanted to share more knowledge to them. Sadly, CLOSED was the educational sign of the day.
It was the beginning of summer and the traffic in was steady but the adventure was little. Not sure why or what happened to cause it to be closed (we hadn’t had that fire #33 yet) , so no idea why!!
It’s a almost self educational spot, wish I’d been living north and hired to be a casual staff to open when no one else wishes to work.
Hoping their next stay can be historical educational!

My family has been vacationing on the French River for over 50 years. We usually save a visit to the Visitor's Centre for a trip on a rainy day. There are nice restroom facilities inside, a gift shop and a museum. Entrance to the museum used to be free, but now there is a fee.
There's also a trail you can follow that will take you down to Recollet Falls or you can follow the shorter trail across the snowmobile bridge that literally spans the French River. No matter how many times we visit, we always enjoy a stop at the Visitor's Centre.

A great place to stop and stretch your legs. Lovely to see the bridge and the water; the fall colours were beautiful and our three teenage boys had lots of fun climbing the rocks and hiking down to the water. A great place to stop for a break; just off the highway and free.

When travelling North on Hwy 69, a stop here is always a must! Love the hike to the waterfall, enjoy the view from the snowmobile bridge. Always clean, friendly staff.

The hike down to the falls is the highlight- you won't be disappointed if you go.
The museum is excellent, and you can spend a fair amount of time if you read and listen to the recordings.

Modern building set in the woods. Small gift shop and friendly staff. We enjoyed the museum and could have stayed longer to take it all in. The 30 minute hike to the rapids is a great for stretching your legs and for a lunch stop.
