This is a difficult review to write as there are so many contradictions. First, I want to thank the company for returning my 2 umbrellas to the hotel. I left them in the van and they brought them to the Riverside the following morning. Very helpful and very gracious.

Mr Linh (the guide) and Mr. Minh ( the driver who became known to us as Mr French from the movie The Departed...as he was so reliable) took us on a full day tour with 4 others for a total of 8 people to the Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong. We had 3 distinct experiences and each deserve mentioning. I will try to be brief.
The morning was spent at the Tunnels which were interesting and informative. Linh who is from the upper reaches of the Mekong speaks with enthusiasm and knowledge about the tunnels and with a sense of understandable pride. The conditions under which the VC fought were horrific in a sense and their endurance over the time of both the French and American presence is remarkable. He willingly and openly discussed any aspect of this conflict and I appreciate his opinion. Five stars without question. There is a stop along the way to visit a crafts shop to support local artists who may have suffered the effects of agent orange. some of the works are impressive.
The second part was lunch. Delicious. Well served. Well timed. iA really good experience.
I have been to VN perhaps 5 times previously but this was the first tour I had done. For some reason, my 3 sons and I were struck by how unhappy the Vietnamese appeared... unlike I witnessed during other visits and also how aggressive many were in the context of "asking" for "tips". I will explain...
the Mekong Tour was a debacle. What we experienced was the simply an un-engaged group of locals who were hellbent on pushing us to give "tips" constantly. My Vietnamese friends have mentioned the growing distance between the rich and poor in VN and this may be evidence of that. While we enjoyed seeing the bee hives and hearing some of the local music, the performances appeared to lack enthusiasm and the overstated pressure to give tips was unappreciated. The trip continued to spiral down as we were put on little boats paddled by two through a dirty canal to a coconut village. Nearly every boat we passed shouted for us to "give money"... somewhat amusingly, the woman at the stern poked my youngest son (age 20) in the back constantly over the 15 minute journey while saying over and over "give money". He would reply over and over..."ask my father, he has the money". I was in the bow of the boat and really was at a loss. Foolishly, I gave her a tip at the end of the journey as I wanted her to just STFU...she got her way after all.
In hindsight, my Vietnamese vocabulary includes such things as "May Den Nhu Cuc Cut Cho" and I regret not having voiced my anger. Perhaps Linh has a connection with the area and really does not see what we experienced. Or perhaps he does and this brings needed dong to an area hit hard economically... Or perhaps it really does not matter....

In conclusion...SEE THE TUNNELS AVOID THE MEKONG TOUR.

Booking the tour was very easy, not expensive. The tour guide Christoffer was great, spekas good English and told us the most important things about the tunnels and about the Vietnam war.
Quite a long travel by bus, but finished it of with the traditional vietnamese soup with beef and noodles. Lovely trip that I would recommend :)

We had a wonderful time on our first night in Saigon with Dat and Long, two adorable college students. Firstly, we want to express our sincere apology to them for waiting for us. We were grateful for their tremendous patience. We savored some great Vietnamese food and were deeply impressed by the student volunteers' enthusiasm and hard work and truly appreciate such free tour programs in Saigon.

This agency was helpful in booking a tour and they were friendly.
Booking a trip was easy and happened quickly.
Food and a snack was also included in the price.

My tourguide for the day was mr. Duy.
He is a very kind guide and he is very knowledgable about the "vietnam war".
I enjoyed him and his story which he tried to explain/tell in english to the best of his ability.

The tour was seemed somewhat short, but I reckon that had to do with the fact that it was only me and mr. Duy in the group and that the "museum" wasn't too big.
Also, it wasn't very busy at the time I visited the place and the firing range was closed due to a lack of ammunition.

I learned quite alot from mr. Duy.
He told me alot which I never or hardly knew about.
I am glad to have had him as my guide ^-^.

Signed on for a March 2014 Gate1, 16-day SE Asia land package which included arrival in Bangkok with onward travel to Siem Reap, Cambodia; Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hue, and Hanoi, Vietnam.

My purposes were served by the agency's well chosen hotels in central locations, and reliable & clean bus, boat, and airline connections which linked the daisy chain of destinations.

I fully commend the well trained and talented guides (Sarnak in Cambodia/Chai in Vietnam) for shepherding our group of 24 of mostly senior Americans. Tips are recommended by Gate 1 for their guides at $5 to $7/ day. I found both men to be superlative, and tipped more. It is also recommended to tip the bus drivers as well as hotel room attendants, and to contribute to a collective, well earned offering from the group to the crews aboard the Halong Bay junk.

Optional excursions are offered almost daily, from an a la carte selection featuring each city for about $42 to $75 PP per city. Most travellers reserved these at a small discount before departing from the US, but the side trips can be added a day in advance enroute. My friend and I did not take any of the group's sight seeing buses, opting instead for independent activities, but those who did had no complaints.

I have minimal critique for the Gate 1 experience. However, I believe Gate 1 can improve in a few areas:

I personally had communication difficulties with the home office. e.g., Weird things like refusing to cc me , saying that there is only one email used per reservation. We were two friends, not family, paying separately, so this was niggling and annoying. And, Gate 1 avoids health, visa, destination, and insurance updates, leaving it up to the individual to figure it out.

For logistics, the day when we moved from Halong Bay to Hanoi was consumed by travel due to Gate 1's preferred departure times. An earlier start could have left half a day for exploration.

We were fortunate to have a very congenial group. That's always a luck of the draw with group travel, and if personalities don't gel so easily, two weeks on the road can be horrible. However, assuming that future travellers can be lucky enough to enjoy the perk of being with like minded, respectful people, Gate 1 is fine for smooth, practiced touring in SE Asia.

Day tour My Tho - Ben Tre 1 day

I have email to ask for quotation before booking. All my queries and questions have been answered via email before I need to submit the online booking form.

Whatever arrangement I have arranged prior via email, all criteria have been met and pickup service from my hotel is on time too.

1 day b4 the tour, the agency even send down the tour voucher to my hotel personally. Appreciate the personal touch of such service.

Most of the tour guides providing the service can conversed well in English.

Meal is included in the package I have mentioned above and lunch will be at Hoi Ai.

I booked a day tour of HCMC with them as I was keen to see all the sites and get an insight into the history as well. My trip covered almost all of HCMC, the war memorial, pham ngu lao street, independence palace, the different pagodas. Oh it was an eventful day. The guide was really smart and funny and had all the information and stories on Vietnam. Overall a very very fun day indeed.

HCMC has this great vibe, that one cannot describe in words but can feel in the city. Its a really lively city, and there's always someone or something interesting to watch. My day tour started at 8 am sharp and from then on it was an overload on the senses, in a good way! We covered a lot of ground in one day. We visited the war museum which was also my fave part of the day. Food trails were a part of my priority and the tour guide took us to some fabulous places. His information about the place and its history was also solid. This is an awesome option for people who are low on time but want to make the most of thier visit anyway.

I had been in HCMC for a month and I don't think I had so much fun in one day, as I did with them. They picked me up in thier bus at 7 am and from there on an adventure began. They had some really fun cool people on the bus, all very chilled out and out to have a good time. The guide was very well informed, I was very impressed with his depth of knowledge. My tour included the Jade Emporer pagoda, the war museum, Nha Hang Ngon (Which has AWESOME food btw) and the Ben Thanh market. Overall, I was very happy with them.
