Absolute ripper day abseiling at Mt Wellington.
What a great day. Phil is an awesome guide, very knowledgeable and friendly.
My wife has a big fear of heights and Phil was great with her and by the end of the day she had gone down 4 times!
If you are looking do something bit different and more adventurous this is it.
Great views, awesome fun and excellent company.

Being from interstate, I needed to lock in a booking (at least 2 people are needed for the event to proceed). To that end, emails were always promptly replied by Charlie - how refreshing! Charlie also supplied a handy tip sheet that helped with accommodation, fuel considerations, what to wear etc.
On the eve of the abseil, I received a txt confirming we were 'good to go'!!
On the morning of the abseil I met Alex - a super friendly character possessing an astute way of relaxing the team. A very thorough safety and equipment brief was given before we made our way to the wall. Alex was brilliant at helping us relax with jokes or little 'jobs' to keep our minds busy.
There's no denying, it's an intimidating concrete wall - but with a double rope system and top quality kit, I knew I was the 'weakest' link here.
And so it was my turn. Another round of double safety checks and I was ready to throw my leg over the handrail. Alex's re-assuring voice helped. Then the other leg. Was I REALLY doing this?!
Pretty soon, Newtons 3rd Law took affect (under total control of course)!
At this point in time you are absolutely grounded 'in the moment'. Nothing else matters because you are beaming with the inner smugness that comes from doing something HUGE! It was a mega buzz.
This experience will stay with you forever (you also get photos to prove your 'awesomeness') - this is a MUST DO bucket list item.
Thanks so much Alex & Charlie = )

Had a brilliant day , 7 in our group and 2 guides . Meet at the old lookout , warm and dry , get kitted with helmets and harnesses and a briefing of whats ahead . A few steps down to the wall then help set the equipment up . Guides very professional and reassuring so going over the rails felt safe . Long drop down , magnificent view from the bottom looking up at the wall . Ladders to climb back to top , take your time . There is a 50m abseil set up to which is cool fun bouncing of the wall and easy climb back up for another go . Best fun on our Tasmanian visit .

Fantastic experience with great guides at the Gordon Dam abseil.
Wish I could have done it again straight away and I would highly recommend it to anyone... especially if you haven't tried any adrenaline based sports before.

I would highly recommend the Picton River rafting we did. We were looking for a littke bit of adventure BUT not too much. The outing was made pretty special due to the small group we had. We were touring with another couple and there was only the 4 of us and Matt the guide, which was the perfect number for the raft. It made is feel like a very personal experience. We all had a lot of fun and it felt like Matt really enjoyed the experience also. That can make all the difference. He was informative and passionate about the river and his job which readily shone through. The lower level river conditions were clearly challenging and Matt the guide really earned his money the day we went with the falling river levels, getting us amateurs all down safely. Matt was a very competent professional and we always felt very safe and he gave very clear and supportive guidance for us to work as a team.

Aussie legends. Matt and Martin were awesome. We had an amazing time rafting in Tasmania with Aardvark. The whitewater wasn't huge, but you can't control the weather. He took us to local farms to pick up fresh raspberries and cherries when were off the river.
If you're looking to go rafting in Tasmania, get in touch with Matt. He'll be honest about conditions and options. Would highly recommend to anybody traveling to Tassie.

For anyone who would like a challenge, this is for you. I didn't say it will be fun, but it will get the heart pumping to let you know you are still alive!!! Totally safe and totally worth the one off experience. The instructors are amazing, you have nothing to worry about there. Overall, very happy we lived to tell the story. Great experience...awesome dam. Aardvark Adventures are the best.

Aardvark Adventures and in particular their abseiling at Gordon dam were great. The experience of abseiling down the 140m dam wall cant be put into words. Macca our guide was friendly, professional and helped put me at ease (as much as possibile), it was nice to have a guide that was approachable and friendly. the booking process was easy and Aardvark Adventures were alway prompt in answering any questions prior to the day. Climbing the stairs back to the top after abseiling - a little bit of hell!!

Hey there. From memory the trip left early in the day and you had the option of getting a ride from Glenorchy, or driving yourself out there (which we did). I think we had to be there for 9 or leave at 9... I can't remember which though. Have fun!
