going first thing at 9a is still a good idea - first dibs on chairs, opportunity to take pictures without too many people, and still good to swim and miss the super hot sun around noon time (take a nap / eat lunch) at noon.

Hello You can take local bus- more like white extended mini van- for $2.00 us from Phillipsburg To Maho beach . Then another $2.00 going back to Phillipsburg. You can walk from the shops at Maho near the Sonesta hotel. It will take you 15 min to walk there from Sonetsa hotel, Maho beach.

We have been going to Sint Maarten since 1988 and we now go twice a year and the very first beach we went on was Mullet and it remains our favourite on the island! I understand Sonesta Maho now provides bus service to and from Mullet! The beach at Grande Case is lovely and pretty good for children, but quite expensive for pretty much everything. Mullet can sometimes be a little wavy, but we have never had any problems other than Sundays when the locals pretty much take over the beach. There is good snorkelling at the south end of Mullet, but limited snorkelling in Grands Case.

We took a taxi from the port. Prices are fixed and you pay at a booth. The taxi driver asked us what time we wanted to return and came back for us. I can't remember the exact price we paid, but most people say between $10-$12 per person which is somewhere in the ballpark of what we paid. I've also been told that there's a public bus which would be much cheaper, but I haven't tried it. If you search the forum on here I'm sure you could find more info on that.
