We book this tour $98 each person description was completely different than the tour 17 people. 3 hour tour waited over 30 minutes to leave. Royal caribbean symphony of the sea cruise. Nov. 15 2023. Was a complete disappointment we stopped at a church for about 5 minutes were in traffic with a driver that didn't even talk to us. One lady in our van of 10 squashed hot adults summed it up by saying they drove us through the getto of Jamaica. It was a ruff ride up a hill to the so called historic mansion Over grown run down house on a hill. We had no water for 3 hours and our food that was included in our price was awful a little 6 inch plate everything was pilled in one ,plate only to find out this food was in our van since we left the ship. I refused yo eat it. We were supposed to see many other things and were completely taken advantage of. I would never do this tour or recommend.

Falmouth is a nice ship terminal where you can desembark and book any tour for the amazing jamaican beaches. In this area you have shops and restaurants with the best of jamaican culture.

The shuttle we took was dilapidated with barely functioning air conditioning. The route was strewn with trash and not scenic at all. The church was closed so we could not see inside. The Barrett home was interesting. The tour guide kept checking her cell phone and seemed bored constantly reciting the same script for each group. Our driver Richard was the only highlight. He went out of his way to show us local fruits along the drive since we showed interest in local information.

Ok, so my 5 stars is NOT for the whole of Falmouth, Jamaica. We had a very traumatic experience there however, our experience was saved by a wonderful PediCab driver named Rory Ashland[?] (I think his last name is correct, but I cannot find our receipt).

We initially went on our own for a walk to experience Falmouth on our own. This was not the best decision, in hindsight. We were clearly tourists and there is no way to really "blend in". We had a great experience visiting the Kaya Herb house, unfortunately followed by a very negative experience being chased through the streets by an unhinged young man because he decided it was our fault when some women, whose shop we were trying to frequent, told him they were calling the police on him for harassing their customers. Long story short, he chased us about a mile back to the ship until, what we believe was an undercover cop stepped out of a car, flashed something and he stopped in his tracks instantly.

Needless to say, we were upset and not too thrilled about visiting the less touristy areas of Falmouth, however, a young man, who was a licensed PediCab driver from within the gated and guarded port area promised to give us a tour of the real experience of Falmouth and that we would be perfectly safe with him. That was Rory, and he did exactly what he said he would. He took us to a charming little bar, definitely not a tourist trap where we shared Red Stripes and enjoyed the local distractions and connected with Rory on a great level.

In fact, it was such a great experience, he actually saved our visit to Jamaica. To summarize, I would say unless you know your destination, like our visit to Kaya was fine on our own, which was outside of the gates, and if we'd gone straight back to the secure port area we would never have been chased by the crazy kid.

We do, however, recollect it as one of the most memorable shore excursions in our history of vactioning/cruising as we had an unforgettable experience with major adrenaline and it was quite unique.

Moral of the story, take a PediCab or one of the licensed tour guides you will see near the port exit/on the way out. Rory showed us some of the reality of Falmouth, we discussed some of the issues the area has, and he really flipped our experience from highly negative to extremely positive.

While we won't likely be going back anytime soon, if we were we'd seek out a PediCab and do it that way. It kind of sucks to have to restrict your visit a bit, but with the crime in Jamaica you really have to be more cautious than with other ports/locations in the Caribbean.

Rory is the #1 PediCab driver in Falmouth, Jamaica and I would go with him again, even though it took us 45 minutes of debate to get me to leave the safety of the gates again. The PediCab drivers are trustworthy and you are registered with the port when you take one, you have to pay at a central booth and then get a ticket to hand to your driver.

Vague wandering around this port is definitely not recommended, but if you have a direct destination in mind, near to the port, you should be fine and just tell the tour guides you're ok and you know where you're going, although they'll try to convince you not to go to Kaya, etc, Kaya is really worth the extra few dollars [and it's still ridiculously cheap for the experience you get and the legal way to experience all of the local delights].

Aside from the tour guide and the bus driver, this excursion was not enjoyable. The Kokono Falls is terrible and the place they dropped us off to shop was even worse. Very unsafe. Please do not spend your money on this excursion.

I have to start with a positive. I loved the port itself, and the people in it, but not outside the port. Outside he port is very dangerous. DO NOT GO OUTSIDE THE PORT! I REPEAT, DONT GO OUTSIDE THE PORT!!! We made the ring decision of going to a beach outside the port. We walked outside and the first thing we see is a butt load of taxi drivers waiting right outside the gates. We already knew the name of the person we were looking for, and we said who, but everybody had to say that they were that person. We had to LOOK AT NAME-TAGS to make sure that they were the right person we were looking for. When we found our guy, we were led down a street that looked straight out of hell. Grafiti on walls, people staring at you like they want to rob and kill you, people watching you every move, people following you, and so much more. I felt bad for the people there. We were led down an alleyway, and I would say, it was sketchy. I was scared for me and my family. When we got to the the beach, I will say, it was beautiful. It was secured and enclosed. Very safe too and nice. Also, the port had many shops and restaurants. Also had a marketplace. Very secure security to let us get back on our Disney Cruise. Made me feel better.

If your going to the port, stay in the gates. It’s a safe place, inside the gates. If you get a taxi outside the city, make sure you double check everything. If you leave with a verified Disney taxi, your fine. Just try not to leave the port without a taxi. Thanks for reading this

Due to a recent injury, my wife and I were unable to do any excursions in Falmouth. We did enjoy a leisurely stroll around the shops at the port. The proprietors were all very welcoming and friendly. The port was very clean and we enjoyed the wifi at Starbucks and Margaritaville (along with delicious coffee and, of course, a Margarita!)
We did venture in to the port town and picked up some spices and things at the local grocery store. (...much cheaper than the same things inside the terminal!)
It’s worth taking time to read the many signs about Falmouth’s history.
Enjoy
